After getting new mail, any attempt to open mail results in momentary display of header (to: from: subject:) of email item, then quick kill of BOTH browser and mail viewer. Problem is 100% reprod. I am using NT box to send this bug since linux box cannot email.
Looks like a mozilla mailnews bug, not a grendel bug.

Can you specifiy which build are you using? Also, does this happen with any mail message you try to select or just a particular one?

does this still happen to you? This bug is pretty old and I imagine that if it were still happening or happening frequently enough we'd have heard about this by now from lots of people.
If you didn't already notice: it was reported a while ago (March 22), but it was reported against Grendel, not Mail/News. I didn't notice it earlier because I am not the module owner for the module this one was reported against.
I think we'll have to mark worksforme if we don't get a response from the reporter. This problem is not in the most current builds.
From matthew (reporter) via email: Build ID : 1999082316 I am using this build as it the only one packaged as RPM and appears compatible with my platform: DEC Alpha 21164SX 533 by Microway with OS RH6.1 This bug is still occurring with 100% reproduction. Opening any email msg (old or new) causes the problem
