User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 I have had several problems creating a bookmark of an RSS feed on my toolbar. First of all, I don't see any way to make an RSS feed into a new bookmark. I can only create a new separator, folder, or bookmark, not an RSS. The only way I found to create one was to copy-paste the "Latest Headlines" bookmark that came with the install, and then edit the copy. I could then right click it, open properties, and modify the name and feed location to make it do what I want. However, when I open "Manage Bookmarks", I still see the original location http://fxfeeds.mozilla.org in the Location column, even though it's showing the right headlines. Reproducible: Always The documentation doesn't address the news feeds, so I can't tell if I'm just doing something wrong.
Have you tried Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks | File | New Live Bookmark ?
You're right - it's possible to create a new feed bookmark under the file menu. I was confused because there isn't a button for it on the bookmarks manager (though there are for the other three kinds of bookmarks) nor does it appear when you right click where you want to create the feed. It is true that the center column where the feed URL is supposed to be does report the wrong URL when you edit a bookmark that was copy-pasted, so that is a real bug (as opposed to some missing buttons).
Yep, that's because live bookmarks store two urls: a meaningless one that may be the page where you added it (or not, if it's the default feed or one you've copied), and the actual url for the feed, and the bookmarks manager shows the meaningless one in the Location column. Luckily, it'll all be different in Firefox 2.0, with new and different bugs. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 259526 ***
