I upgraded frmo a nightly revision of less than 2-3 days back to rc1 and lost alarm information stored in a non-recurring as well as recurring event.
Our current theory is that the pre-RC1 build you had must have been one of the ones that created UTF-16 based datebases, and this lossage was a side-effect from that. There were only one or two days with builds like that, so this bug should, we think, be long gone.

Please specify what do you mean with 'Alarm information lost'. The alarms do not trigger? Alarm information not shown in edit dialog? (See also Bug 329985) What nightly build did you used before? Please specify the exact build date. The builds 2-3 days before RC had some database problems. Was this previous Lightning build the first Lightning install in your profile? Or did you used older builds of Lightning before that in the same profile?
This is different from Bug 329985. I dont remember the date of build but I tried 2-3 days before rc1 was released and yes it was my first install. Maybe I stumbled on the DB problem identified by ssitter and dmose. But after upgrade I could not find the event info with alarm i.e calendar event not just agenda item for the event. So I could not see any instance of event that contained alarm info as well. Though the rest of the event showed up correctly as well as the task list.
