User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.6a1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.6a1 In the old Bookmark Manager you could hide the left frame by dragging the middle bar to the left. Right now you can't do it in Places probably because of the "New Folder..." button in the left bottom. Besides the search edit box shouldn't be hidden, it shouldn't be in the left pane in the first place (http://wiki.mozilla.org/Places:User_Interface#Places_Organizer ) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
I suspect this is WONTFIX becuase the left pane is how you get to history and different parts of the bookmarks hierarchy. In the old bookmarks manager, everything you needed was in the initial view so the left pane was more of a convenience. This isn't true anymore, and hiding the left pane hides lots of functionality that will not be accessable any other way. Also, if you want stuff to be moved around, the best thing is to get in on the UI discussion on the newsgroup. All the discussion is happening there, it has been extensively discussed already and will be in the future. That and the wiki is what the new UI will be built on.

No one won't move the bar to the left end without knowing what he/she is doing, and adding some menus to reset it looks sufficient to make it accessible again so it's a bit weak reason for WONTFIX IMHO. > Also, if you want stuff to be moved around, the best thing is to get in on the > UI discussion on the newsgroup. People move this kind of thing around all the time and have no idea what they did. You might want to read http://www.joelonsoftware.com/printerFriendly/uibook/fog0000000249.html (search for "half the screen was gray"). Anyway, this really isn't my call to make. Currently, this is the type of discussion that is taking place on the newsgroup and shouldn't take place in bugs.

But it didn't prevent Microsoft from implementing the task bar like that in the forthcoming Windows Vista. Anyway, as the new Places layout landed to become the design described in Wiki (http://wiki.mozilla.org/Places:User_Interface#Places_Organizer) with buttons on the top, you can drag the middle bar to the left to hide Bookmarks Menu in the left pane. --> WFM

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
