The Extension Manager manages Firefox extensions... not file extensions.

There has been no more recent action on this bug and it has not been possible to reproduce in more recent builds of Firefox. 

Furthermore,OS 10.2.8 is unfortunately no longer officially supported in more recent Firefox builds.
