If we enter the search criteria.It is giving result which is not based on criteria

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.First go to  "edit" window then select search option
2.Give the condition or criteria in the respective fields
3.then click search button

Actual Results:  
The search result is not based on that criteria

Expected Results:  
The search based on that criteria

Not clear wich version or build you are testing. 
But assuming Firefox 1.5.0.1: when I go to Edit -> Find in This Page, and when I type in the word "the" and the word is in the page, I see a match.

What "criteria" are you using? Is there a specific page you're using to test this? Need more details for this to be a useful report, "not working according to specification" is not specific enough.
