User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060130 SeaMonkey/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060130 SeaMonkey/1.0 First seen in Seamonkey 1.0a (rv 1.8b4 Gecko 20050910) Does not happen with Mozilla 1.8a6 (rv 1.8a6 Gecko 20050111) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open mail app 2.Click offending local mail file in left pane 3.Wait for file to open - it hangs Actual Results: sometimes (not always) see status line about updating summary file, display never updates, app hangs Expected Results: mail file should open, display message list in top right pane Not every local mail folder does this, just a few specific ones. Tried virus scans but nothing found. I also have other working files of similar filesize, number of messages, depth of subdirectory nesting, length of filename, creation date, last update etc - nothing obvious there. Tried closing app (ctl-alt-delete since other methods don't work), delete summary files, re-open - same result. Also tried close app, delete summary files, open Mozilla 1.8a6 mail app, open the folder - works fine. Then close Moz1.8a6, go back to SeaMonkey mail, open folder- it hangs. No skins, using default/classic theme, no installed extensions, these are not nightlies, just the milestone builds.
More info: Tried closing app, deleting summary files, open mail app, do a Search with strings that I know will match some messages in the target file. The summary file gets rebuilt okay and some message headers from the offending file show in the search result pane without hanging. Clicking on a search hit that is in the offending file to try to read that message, is when the hang happens, not when rebuilding the summary file. All of which may now be irrelevant. I installed the new release - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060404 SeaMonkey/1.0.1 and it does not seem to have this problem.
