if a lot of messages are dragged, 'unresponsive script' warning kicks in. in some cases it is required to select 'continue' with keyboard several times before 'dropping' the items and several times afterwards before actual moving starts (which most users probably will have no idea how to do thus they will fail to move the messages, at least in one run).

overall drag and drop of huge amounts of messages is very unresponsive even if the warning does not kick in - it takes quite some time before target cursor appears - and user has to hold the mouse button down or else unexpected results may appear.

this is thunderbird 1.5 final, but as i currently am moving some 16k of messages (had to hit 'continue' twice to get the drop cursor and some 4 or five times after that), i have no idea when it will finish so i could look up the exact build number ;)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
the problem still there with 2.0.0.8
rich, do you also see using trunk? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/

well, i was asken on mail to check latest version before, and i did - but now, i have found several workarounds for the problem, so i feel too lazy to check again, especially with trunk, sorry...

as for the workarounds :
1. if you dragndrop, use keyboard to select continue, without releasing mouse button;
2. alternatively, rightclick and ose 'move to' submenu.
Rich, does this happen for all message store types? pop, imap, local?
Have you seen http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unresponsive_Script_Warning
have tried local only (i don't think this can be tried for pop, can it ?).
that page only suggests increasing timeout, but i don't think internal thunderbird actions should go through this check, especially if they are known to take long time.
so, doesn't happen with keyboard. I know nothing about mouse events, perhaps someone else can pick this up.

So much has changed on trunk in both the mouse and js arena that testing 2.0 is of limited value.

Summary: "unresponsive script" triggered by drag and drop of a lot of messages → "unresponsive script" by drag and drop thousands of messages and mouse event
pretty sure this is a dupe of a problem about dragging many messages that was diagnosed by a developer, emre or asuth?
