User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 This particular RSS feed can grow to more than 2000 entries in 30 days time. I suspect that this large number of entries is what causes Thunderbird to lose the retention settings. The only fix is to close Thunderbird then relaunch it or to change the settings back from "Use server defaults" to the deletion of messages older than 30 days. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Find a large news group with many new updates. 2.Set properties on RSS feed to delete messages older than 30 days and allow Thunderbird to accumulate over 3000 entries for that single feed. 3.Let Thunderbird run for up to 24 hours after obtaining the 3000+ entries. Actual Results: You will find that the properties will go back to "Use server defaults" after checking the properties after a period of time. Expected Results: The software should continue to keep the "delete messages older than 30 days" setting in place regardless how long the program is running for.

I have been having this problem on windows 2000. The setting for: Folder Properties -> Retention Policy -> Use Server Defaults keeps getting selected. I can go change it by unselecting the "Use Server Defaults" check box and selecting "Don't delete any messages" but the settings keep changing back to "Use Server Defaults". I thought this might happen when I add a new group/feed. Also, I have many feeds so it would be nice if there was a global setting for this as well. I have looked all over but so far have not found such a thing. Anyway, to reiterate, I find the problem on Win 2k also. Ken kht@skypoint.com
Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies? (1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is now 2.0.0.16)

Apparently this problem hasn't been happening with the latest version of Thunderbird.
