User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

I've Firefox in french, but as I speak hungarian, I need sometime to write with specific characters wich don't exist in french. I use the fonction ALT + 0237 for example to have a long i (with an accent in place of the point). When I use this character, the browser delete my page and go to the home page of the browser

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to http://www.google.com
2.try to have a long i by using ALT + 0237

Actual Results:
then you have the browser's home page

Expected Results:
give a long i (í) (I did have this long i by copying and pasting another)

there is other problems with this combination of ALT + numbers... It's impossible to have a long o (ó) because after typing ALT + 024, the borwser is going to the previous page, and the combination for ó is ALT + 0243...
Confirming, I see this with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060322 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2006032205
The í appears for an instant but then my home page comes up.

The reason this is happening is that the 7 key on the keypad is also the "Home" key, and the Alt-Home combination is the shortcut to bring up your home page in the browser.

Go to the Windows Control Panel, Regional and Language Settings, Languages tab, Details button. There you can add a Hungarian keyboard layout so you can switch between that and your normal keyboard layout. (Or try the US International layout which lets you enter most accented characters by typing ' " ^ or ~ followed by the letter.)
