I had the same problem. It turned out that the value in the action attribute of the containing form was wrong and because of this it could not be opened and caused the exception.
I think I might be seeing the same issue. A customer sent me an HTML file he dumped to disk. It views perfectly fine under IE but under FF 2.0 I get: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "File error: Unrecognized path" nsresult: "0x80520001 (NS_ERROR_FILE_UNRECOGNIZED_PATH)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Tzabari_Gili/Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/OLK741/RequestMOBIserverAdmin.htm :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 20" data: no] I checked that the file exists. If I enter the aforementioned path in IE it opens up just fine. Should I file a separate bug or is this the same issue?
Bug could also be reproduced on Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 with "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a2pre) Gecko/20070102 Minefield/3.0a2pre" and "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:188.8.131.52) Gecko/20061208 Firefox/184.108.40.206".
