Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird version 1.5 (20051201) (en-US)
failed to change default application (mail) in general preferences
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
details of BUG:
a) startup of thunderbird:
dialog: yes/no
"Do you want to use Mozilla Thunderbird as the default mail application?"
--> click "yes"
on next startup of thunderbird same question occures...
b) thunderbird menu :
in menu:
Tools --> Options
Tab: General
Default Settings:
Make Thunderbird the default application for:
--> Opt: Mail
Opt: News
Opt: RSS Feeds
select Opt: Mail
will not save the settings!
NOTE:
for a) and b)
Windows XP Professional
"system preferences"
"internetoptions"
Tab: programs
e-mail:
--> program is correctly set to "Mozilla Thunderbird"
simple bug fix for me:
1. add administrative group temporarly to the user member groups
2. login as user
3. change settings
--> make thunderbird as default mail application from a) or b)
4. logout as user
5. remove administrative group from user member groups
6. login as user
--> problem is solved on startup of mozilla thunderbird
(additional steps to reproduce:)
7. close mozilla thunderbird
8. make another mail application to defaut
9. start mozzilla thunderbird
--> change of default mail application failed!!
--> to fix it i have to use step 1. to 6.
NOTE:
this does not appear on first run on thunderbird!
Actual Results:
change default application (mail) did not succed
Expected Results:
change default application (mail) should succed for all windows users
