User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: TB version 1.5 (20051201) A standard feature on MacOSX systems is intelligent working with text. Especially when dragging a word from one position in a text to another. The usual behavior in MacOSX: I double-click a word in a text, then I drag the word to a different position in the text, that's all, I'm finished. The two space characters at the starting point are intelligently merged into a single one and the one space character at the final position is intelligently split into two, one before the word and one after the word. This is a wunderful behavior in all text handling programs on MacOSX (in some text editors one can turn it off for obvious reasons). In Thunderbird I have to hassle with too many or too few space characters or I have to copy the word plus one space character and have to put it exactly at the final position, not to glue the word on another and to have two space characters on the other side of the word. Could you please implement this hasslefree Mac behavior into Thunderbird? If Windows and Linux users like to edit text "the hard way", OK. But Mac users want to use their machines with ease, therefore they use Macs. They are lazy bastards! :-) Reproducible: Always

P.S. Confirming because easily reproducible but it might still be WONTFIX.

This seems like it would be worth doing cross-platform to me.
