suggest you visit the forums for help http://forums.mozillazine.org/
you may have a corrupted index file or problem related to installation, mail server/ISP or preferences. delete inbox.msf in your profile and see what happens. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder
Also, version 1.0.7 is much too old to be reporting a problem against. You should pick up v1.5.0.4. If you still have problem please open a new bug following the guidelines at this link, and please keep summary short and provide more information and details such whether you are imap or pop, what you recently changed or did with the application, ISP, etc https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html
