User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

Unfortunately the failing location is behind a password protected region of www.USBank.com. But I will illustrate the problme by mentioning that (1) all current versions of IE, Netscape, and Opera correctly pop up the download box, wich then successfully downloads the .pdf file, and (2) Firefox performs correctly on all other 8 or so such links found on oages if other financial instituteions.

Security Warning: I cannot give out passwords to you; and further I fear that sensitive information may be incorporated into the "losing" case HTML coce. Beware.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Merely observe the HTML source code for one "losing" link and one "winning" one; see the "Additional Information" section.
2.recall that only Firefox loses on the "losing" code; but it wins on all other similar codes
3.recall that both firefox and all other browsers win on all other such codes.
Actual Results:
Firefox just hangs forever on the "losing" link, but wins like every other browser on all other similar links.

Expected Results:
Firefox should pop up a download selection menu, like very other browser (on losing case)

HTML code, from deep within www.USBank.com that all browsers except Firfox "win" on:    javascript:displayStatement('/internetBanking/PDFRequestRouter?requestCmdId=RetrieveStatementPDF&SELECTED_STATEMENTDATE=04/03/2006&SELECTED_STATEMENTID=', 'a7ShS4n%2BvlV6QP9BksPyMtJLXPYbCjOemrVN4w2u%2Bp8Wk7ETsv2JKESu%2BEWRSc%2FumEURyurcVdkbryz1iRax2H%2FAh3zRGEX%2BflfO9qWSRx%2FkmAYM9%2Bsi78cbKcw%2F%2BeM95JgGDPfrIu%2BPT2bXp553vYXq1HHYfFpo6ezpFmXeW3l%2B0sDdLxztcvvpm6MJWXpo6Fd4ZBOMLPg%3D', '&ACCOUNTLISTITEM=', 'th9dCaC0KGXdjnkcOFfvZgmD%2FKUyrWm%2BtxExx%2BivOALj6P5f2lzUcJNIHHa1i3KgkV8%2FzHVFhIlMnNlolwUwUOlNzeF8dbGh%2BnFTzkuSHbOhRSgz0T9JY9qJJLLQHveZvvEZzcHZcnkgKBNkrXq7nRCUz%2BigxmtY');

Code deep within www.americanexpress.com that all browsers "win" on:  javascript:GoToPDFPage("https://www100.americanexpress.com/myca/estatement/pdf/action?request_type=authreg_StatementPDF", "0", "en_US", "0");

It looks that plugin of 6.0.0 is used even after Adobe Acrobat Reader upgrade to 6.0.5. See Bug 214137 for hang when Adpbe Acrobat Reader 6.0.0.

Check nexts.
(A) Version when plugin search (No nppdf32.dll in Firefox's Plugins)
   (1) Termninate Firefox.
   (2) Delete nppdf32.dll from Firefox's plugins directry.
   (3) Restart Firefox
   (4) Set plugin.expose_full_path=true thru about:config
   (5) Enter "about:plugins" at URLbar and check plugin version and path
       (Q1) What version?
(B) Version when plugin is copied by Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.5.
   (1) Termninate Firefox.
   (2) Start stand alone Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.5 applicaiton.
   (3) Disable "Display PDF in Broweser" option of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
(Ignore "reboot required" message at thie step.)
   (4) Enable "Display PDF in Broweser" option again.
   (5) Check Firefox's Plugins directry(nppdf32.dll)
   (6) Re-boot (Adobe Acrobat Reader will force re-boot)
   (7) Restart Firefox
   (8) Enter "about:plugins" at URLbar and check plugin version and path
       (Q2) What version?
   (9) Reset plugin.expose_full_path to false thru about:config
(Don't forget to reset this option.)
Summary: Click link to .pdf file on particular financial website fails to initiate download box; hangs forever → Click link to .pdf file on particular financial website fails to initiate download box; hangs forever (Plugin of Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.0)
This doesn't have anything to do with Firefox.

The problem is that when Acrobat Reader decides to auto update sometimes the window it creates ends up behind the browser window. Since Acrobat Reader makes this form display as Modal neither Internet Explorer or Firefox will respond until the Acrobat Reader window is closed. Since most of us use browsers as maximized getting focus back to the Acrobat Reader window is impossible. Though if you hit alt tab you should be able to bring it to the front again.
No response from bug opener for three months to very very simple question, "Plugin module of which Adobe Acrobat Reader version is really used?"...
Sigh... Good grief...

Closing as DUP of Bug 214137, and removing from dependency tree of Bug 336184 because no need to track any more.
