POP email accounts.
Reset them up many times, deleted the passwords etc. Tested on other software.
Some just error and fail in Thunderbird (seems a common problem after searching on the net)

1.Setup account
2.try to check/send mail
3.it fails

What server are you trying to use? Do you have a personal firewall installed (check the settings of it)?
