Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1 This has been around for some time on all versions of firefox that I've used (Windows, Linux). When you download a file and choose to save it to a specific location and you create the directory using the download manager window once you create the directory the file name is lost. I normally just copy and paste the file name if I want to save it to a new directory but it would be good if firefox could keep the file name. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on file to download 2. Choose the path to download too (eg. /home/user) 3. Create new directory with the save file dialog box 4. After you have created the directory the filename of the file you wanted to download is gone. Actual Results: The file name of the file was gone so I had to manually type in a file name (I just pasted the one I had in the clipboard before creating the directory) Expected Results: The filename should be retained in the save file dialog box after creating a new directory to save the file into
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060408 Firefox/3.0a1 - Build ID: 0000000000 WFM. I can reproduce this on 1.5, though.
Related to/duplicate of bug 309493 (seems Firefox 1.5/Linux only)?
Reporter, are you sure the same bug manifests itself on Windows?
The bug appears when you press Enter <RET> while in the text edit box. If you use the mouse to exit the edit box, then the directory is created and you do *not* lose the filename. This suggest the that the problem is with handling the Enter key while in the edit box. I see this on all Linux and BSD versions I've used. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.13) Gecko/20060418 Fedora/1.0.8-1.1.fc4 Firefox/1.0.8 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; OpenBSD i386; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060303 Firefox/1.5.0.1

Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
This bug doesnt occur in the 64bit version
I have a similar problem under SuSe Linux 10.1, after updating Firefox to version 1.5.0.4 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060527 SUSE/1.5.0.4-1.3 Firefox/1.5.0.4). But instead of losing the file name in the file save dialogue after changing the directory, the file name of the file to save is missing everytime I try to download something.
WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a6pre) Gecko/20070604 Minefield/3.0a6pre Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.5pre) Gecko/20070604 BonEcho/2.0.0.5pre Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.13pre) Gecko/20070604 Firefox/1.5.0.13pre on Debian 4.0.
Also WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Resolving as duplicate of bug 309493, despite Windows in the original report (the bug is marked Linux). You can reopen it if it can be reproduced again with a new version.
