User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1 I am running 1.5.0.1 under Win XP. I find that everytime I boot up after a complete shutdown, and most of the time after a shutdown/restart, that when I start Firefox I get a message that it wont start, and it wants to send a report to Microsoft (not to you, to Microsoft). I can reinstall it, and run it from the install, and it works perfectly, and I can even start new copies. But if I shut them down and then try to start a copy, it will fail. My machine is Dual Core. Is it possible that might be a factor? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Shutdown 2.Reboot 3.Start Firefox 3800+ Athlon 64 X2 939pin 2.0 Ghz Dual Core 2x512kbL2 Cache
I appreciate the link to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up describing Firefox Hanging, but that is not what I am experiencing. It does not hang, it immediately crashes and brings up a screen to send a report to Microsoft. And if there were a problem in the History file with a long URL, why can I reinstall it and run it from the install, and it works fine (all of my bookmarks and history are still there, even >6 days), but if I do a complete shutdown, and then start up, it will fail regardless of whether I click the icon on my desktop, or the icon in my Quick Start tray
Also have a look at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_%28Firefox%29 it is likely there is something in your profile that is causing this.
No response from reporter re: comment 3 -->INCOMPLETE. Reporter, if you still see this problem with Firefox 2 please reopen this bug. Thanks!
