Make sure you have a sub-folder in your bookmarks 1. go to a site 2. Drag & drop the grippy (URL) into a bookmarks folder to create a new bookmark Actual Results: After dropping, the folder immediately closes. Expected Results: The folder should stay open for x milliseconds (e.g., 2000 ms = 2 secs) so the user can verify that (a) the bookmark was really placed there (good feedback practice, and a natural human distrust of computers), and (b) the dropped bookmark was placed in the correct location (this is exacerbated by there not being an indicator for the drop-target). It would also be nice if, while the folder is still open, the user could perform actions on the open folder (e.g., go-to/edit/delete/move a(nother) bookmark).
This bug is made worse (but not invalidated) by bug 311798.
I agree strongly with the last sentence in this bug report. MSIE keeps its Favorites menus open as long as the user's mouse pointer remains over them. The user can then continue to use that area of Favorites. In FF it is irritating and time wasting to have to start all over again drilling down through my Bookmarks to select and use on of them after I have done some sort of minor maintenance on the Bookmark on the fly (e.g. right-clicked to delete a bookmark; right-clicked to arrange bookmarks in that section by name, etc.) For users like me who have hundreds of bookmarks organized in dozens of folders and sub-folders it would be a very important time and effort saving measure to keep the Bookmark menus open as long as the user's mouse is positioned over them. Use MSIE 6 as an example of how this should work.
