Quicktime 6 installs QuickTimeH264.component in /Library/Quicktime Quicktime 7 installs QuickTimeH264.component in /System/Library/Quicktime and does not remove the old version file.
Remove Quicktime 6 components left behind in /Library/Quicktime and the video plays properly.
