When Uusing Microsoft Word 2003, using the Send (as attachment) command will cause Microsoft Word to hang, and will not open up an email to send in Thunderbird.  To make sure this was caused by Thunderbird, I set my default to outlook, and the send mail command worked as expected.

It also does not seem possible to keep the "enable access to this program box" checked in the Program Access and Defaults panel, though I am not sure if this contributes to the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Have Thunderbird set to default Mail program
2.Attempt to send Document via MSWord : Send to Mail Recipient(As Attachment)
3.Attempt to close Word

Actual Results:  
You will not get a compose mail window, and Word will refuse to close, saying it is in the middle of sending mail.

Expected Results:  
It should both open a compose mail window, and allow MSword to quit.

After Thunderbird fails to create a compose mail window, upon attempting to exit MSWord, this error is thrown.

If you attempt to send a file using the function Send To : Mail Recipient (for Review), it will correctly throw the document to thunderbird and create a new compose mail window.

Tested to see if it would work with the send file from microsoft powerpoint.  No errors there, so its something specific to the command being thrown from MSword that is causing the error in thunderbird.

Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is 2.0.0.16)

can someone else try this on XP?

I wonder if this isn't related to Bug 482966.

I tried send from word 2007 on vista pro - it said it sent, but I can't find it in the outbox of the sending account nor in the inbox of the target account.

After eliminating a visitor's hotmail addy from options :)
Seemed to work fine here in winxp and an old version of Word (2002 I think.)
