This is a regression from the Beta1 build. I use this feature all the time so I 
know :-)

Win32 2000-03-27-09-m15

Your Inbox has a few long messages.
1) Start mail
2) Open Inbox
3) Select first message
4) Click in the message pane to place focus there.
5) Press scroll bar to scroll the message.
6) Press Delete or click Delete toolbar
7) Message is deleted and next message loads
8) Press scroll bar to scroll the message

Actual results: nothing happens.  You have to click on the message pane again to 
scroll

Expected results: message should scroll.  

I'm comparing this behavior to what we had in beta 1.
Last step should be "press space bar to scroll the message"

also scroll the mail window).

As long as everyone knows this is an accessibility issue -- this bug means that
you need a mouse in order to see anything beyond the first page of a message.

Yes, we know that.  Unfortunately, we have a few keyboard accessible type of
bugs that we won't be addressing.  It's hard when we have to make trade-offs on
bugs to fix.
This was fixed when tabbing was fixed for bug#28520.
Since the default focus is on the message pane now- deleting while in the
message pane automatically takes you to the next message and places the focus in
the message pane.

Nope.  If I click on a message in the thread pane, then hit spacebar, it doesn't
scroll down.  If I then hit the delete key to delete the current message and go
to the next message, spacebar still doesn't scroll down.  So it doesn't work for
either keyboard or mouse navigation.

If space is "pgdn even when the thread pane has focus", will shift+space (bug 
70153) and/or backspace (bug 36922) be "pgup even when the thread pane has 
focus"?  (I suppose delete will remain reserved for "delete message".)

Btw, this bug doesn't prevent keyboard-only users from using Mail, since Tab 
works fine to focus the message pane from the thread pane and since B/F/(N/P) 
for next/prev (unread) message works fine when the message pane has focus.

No, Page Up and Page Down should retain their usual meanings -- scroll the 
currently-focused pane, without moving the caret/selection. Space and Shift+Space 
are `secret' (non-advertised) shortcuts, so it doesn't matter that their behavior 
is inconsistent with that of Page Down and Page Up.
