If there's a marquee in a background tab which has been moused over, the cursor always defaults to the pointer when not being moved. That is, when moving the mouse over images or text, the appropriate hand or dogbone cursors appear, but the moment the mouse comes to rest it reverts to the pointer. It also sometimes flickers momentarily (like Bug 319132 Comment 2 and Comment 7) when the mouse is stationary. STR (you'll have to not have marquee disabled, obviously): 1. Open testcase in a new tab 2. Mouseover the scrolling text 3. Switch back to this tab 4. Mouseover a text entry field or image. What happens: when mouse is at rest, it doesn't use the correct cursor. What should happen: should use the special cursor. This is related to Bug 319132, so much so that I'm filing UNCO so the channel can decide if it's a dupe. Testcase to follow.
Attached file Uses marquee tag.

This is definitely different from the iPods bug, per IRC. After looking at this a bit more, I think what's happening is that it gets stuck on whichever cursor was there when it switched tabs. For instance, if you switch *while* it's on the marquee text, it will default to the i-beam instead.
