this is an 're-opening' of the localisation bug 
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211121
which is fixed for mozilla and seamonkey but comes up again with thunderbird.

This is the Return Receipt in Thunderbird:
Hinweis: Diese Empfangsbestätigung sagt nur aus, dass die Nachricht am Computer des Empfängers angezeigt wurde. Es gibt keine Garantie, dass der Empfänger die Nachrichteninhalte gelesen oder verstanden hat.

It is correct translated but a bad joke in the european culture.
Nobody wants that his mail client tell other people that he possibliy don't
understand the mail.
For the use of thunderbird in organisations this is a big (really) problem.
Better (Translation in Seamonkey):

Beachten Sie: Diese Empfangsbestätigung sagt nur aus, dass die Nachricht am Computer des Empfängers angezeigt wurde. Es gibt keine Garantie, dass der Empfänger die Nachrichteninhalte gelesen hat.

Bug should be fixed for tomorrows Trunk and Mozilla_1.8_Branch builds.
