If a new group is selected, the name of the newsgroup is changed from bold to normal, but the displayed messages are unchanged. To change groups, it is necessary to kill Thunderbird and restart, or to switch to "All" in the View window. This behavior is new with 220.127.116.11. Version 1.5.0 was OK. Reproducible: Always
larry does this sound similar to bug 320301?
Yes it does. Check the permissions in the .thunderbird tree. I'm running 18.104.22.168 and it does not show this behavior. If the permissions are correct, check that all the components of 1.5.0 were replaced. I have seen problems when I did an update from my distro (SuSE) over a manually-installed version.

Yes, it is now OK.
