Details

We currently lookup and display the 8-digit build date in lieu of the full 10-digit build ID. The full build ID is more useful to the QA team when it comes to matching test results against specific builds, so we should find a way encourage users to submit the full build ID, or better yet, detect the full build ID automatically and pre-populate that field.

bc has donated a script that can determine the build ID of the running build.

We will also need to add explanatory text to the build ID field in Litmus explaining how users can look up that same information themselves. This will be necessary when testing products other than the browser (e.g. Thunderbird), or when running more than one browser instance while testing.

We now lookup the build ID when possible, but also require the tester to provide the complete 10 digit build ID before we accept any results. Explanatory help text has been added to help testers look-up the build ID.

Zach: Now that 345993 has landed, can you fix the Litmus build ID detection code to use it whenever possible? Thanks.
