User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.5.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.5.0.2 For less than one second, when visiting the URL, I see the "XML has no associated style, so here's the tree" view, which then disappears to be replaced by the plain text of the document. This second view is not even a failed attempt at HTML-parsing the code as far as I can see, just the text content of the elements. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: The above URL appears for less than one second in the tree view, then appears just as "Tove Jani Reminder Don't forget me this weekend!" Expected Results: XML tree view. Works the same with every XML file AFAIK. The browser is interpreting the mime-type as far as I can see.
Sounds like bug 215762 - autoscroll (middle click) causes "XML pretty print" to unformat
(In reply to comment #1) > Sounds like bug 215762 - autoscroll (middle click) causes "XML pretty print" to > unformat Yes, but interestingly, if I go to the page listed in 215762, I don't even get the momentary pretty-printed version. The mime-type for that page, http://www.mozillazine.org/contents.rdf is "application/vnd.mozilla.xul+xml" whereas the type for my test page which gives the flash, is plain old "text/xml".
Changed OS details which were wrong and branch which was unspecified.
OS: Mac OS X 10.2 → Mac OS X 10.3
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
still see this on Mac?

I had this exact problem with FF 25.0. There were no solutions that worked for me. I reset Firefox, and voila, my XML pages render in the familiar collapsible tree view we developers know and love. Menu -> Help -> Troubleshooting -> Reset Firefox. You won't lose your bookmarks, history, form entries or cookie info. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems
