RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 313453

(Reporter: mozilla758+bmo, Unassigned)

Details

1. Install Fx 1.5.0.2/win en-US
2. Install ja.xpi for 1.5.0.2 in
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/win32/xpi
3. Update Fx from 1.5.0.2 to 1.5.0.3

Result:
In update process, check all extension. and say ja.xpi (for 1.5.0.2) is incompatible for 1.5.0.3. Fx check updates for the extension. and Fx says
no ja.xpi for 1.5.0.3 available.

Expected result:
In update process. we can update from ja.xpi for 1.5.0.2 to one for 1.5.0.3.
I'm not so sure about this, for institutional deployments, adding update information to langpacks may actually be a step back.

On top of that, this would require that we hook all the language packs up on amo, not sure if anybody has the cycles to do so. Preed?
I agree. This is important for firefox deployments like the portable version (at http://portableapps.com ).

The binaries are english-only, and the user installs the language pack they need.
A compatibility update is then necessary, and the language packs fails it, reverting to english.
