When trying to mail a group mailing (from group address) I recieve the following message and the letter cannot be sent.

"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded [TEMPFAIL] destination not valid within DNS."

I've used this group listing many times and the addresses are correct. None have been changed.

Help! I really need to send these message to our non-profit organization!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.I've tried for 2 days to send unsent mail - where the group messages go.
2. Other e-mails go fine.
3.I've tried resending many times - in many different ways.

Actual Results:
Took address as usual from my addressbook. It drops down. Wrote letter and sent. Recieved the message. Tried several times to resend. Placed in Send Later file. Tried many times to resend. Always received the same message.

Expected Results:
"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded [TEMPFAIL] destination not valid within DNS." I expect it to go, but received this message instead.

Sent my message.
this also happens with a [PERMFAIL] response where that was [tempfail].
only option I've ever found to work in this case is to send the messages one by one to find the bad destination address.

I wish thunder bird (mozilla) would send the messages one by one, so that the good addresses would get sent and the bad one would get flagged and passed back to me, the user, so that I can try and find the problem with the address or delete it as bad.

(
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [PERMFAIL] destination not valid within DNS. Please verify that your email address is correct in your mail preferences and try again.

on the trunk, I believe we've extended the error message to tell you which address failed, as long as the server tells us. You could try a nightly build
this is my current version, is there a more recent version?
version 1.0.2 (20050317)
(rather than a nightly build, go to a fresh full download?)

t.e.h.
There have been two major releases (1.5 and 2.0) since then. But this bug has only been fixed on trunk builds - these builds will eventually become 3.0. My guess is that you're seeing bug 374388. You could try a nightly build to see if the problem is fixed, but nightly builds aren't always stable. So it's up to you if you want to try a newer build or not. But you should at least upgrade to 1.5 or 2.0 (preferrably 2.0)
