An almost a2 nightly shows the XML prettyprinter for the feed at
This is the default feed for the german localization, this should really work.

The easiest culprit may be the somewhat uncommon heading section of the feed,
either the encoding or the xml header in the same line with <rdf:RDF>:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?><rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="" xmlns="">

Target Milestone: Firefox 2 alpha2 → Firefox 2 beta1
Worth noting that IE7 apparently has no plans for supporting RSS 0.90, which last I heard was backstopping our dropping support for it.
Summary: not detecting prominent german news feed, showing plain XML instead → not detecting RSS 0.90, showing plain XML instead

Robert, do we/should we care about 0.90 still?

We have two issues:

1.) Sniffing for it when it's served as text/xml, etc.
2.) Processing it in the event it gets to the feed parser, like when it's served as application/rss+xml.

I don't think we should sniff/detect RSS 0.90, but the parser should handle #2, because we've always supported it. Agree/Disagree?

IE7 will not process RSS 0.90.

Filed bug 345065. It's just a matter of policy on supported RSS versions/namespaces. The patch will be small.
I'm moving this off my plate since we're already IE compatible in this regard. I'd look at a patch.
