I would like to do a Firefox localization for nl-BE. As both nl-NL and nl-BE are officially the same language, no translation has to be done. Only localization like google.be instead of google.nl, standard bookmarks including the VRT news instead of the NOS news.

We're not going to go through the whole story of an official localization just
for minor adjustments to search engines.
There is a good way to just provide a "belgium" pack in terms of an extension,
shipping a few search plugins.
In terms of default search engines, google is likely to not have any difference
as we shouldn't hit any other server but google.com anyway, and google is going
to play with it server side. Same could apply to other search engines.
Resolving WONTFIX as the ratio of benefit to overall cost is just too low.
I'm quite confident though that the dutch team will welcome additional resources
to it, to make it work good and be even closer to perfect.

Firefox is searching in google.nl. This means I have this option "Search pages in the Netherlands", while when I change the .nl in the address bar to .be I get the correct option "Search pages in Belgium". This really is annoying when I want to search local pages.
Also the default bookmarks include a link to a Dutch news website, which is not useful for Belgians.
Note that 30% of the Dutch localization users are from Belgium, and are getting a really bad first impression of Firefox.
However I understand an extra localization would be a lot of work, I do think this is a problem that should be solved. Would you recommend filing a bug against the Dutch language team asking them to make the Dutch localization less country-specific? If not, what would you recommend?
