User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it-IT; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; it-IT; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3 Firefox stops responding to user input and goes for huge cpu usage while using the applet at http://bgplay.routeviews.org/bgplay/ (Start BGPlay). The browser becomes unusable (no response at all) as soon as the applet gets loaded, and steals big cpu percentages. Closing the applet restores normal behavior. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to http://bgplay.routeviews.org/bgplay/ 2. start the applet ("Start BGPlay" button) 3. close the applet Actual Results: Firefox hangs after step 2. CPU usage peaks and no user input seems to be processed by the application as long as the applet is running. Performing step 3 apparently restores normal behavior of the browser. Expected Results: Browser is supposed to be usable while the applet runs in background. Environment-related info: CPU - Intel Pentium 4 HT OS - Linux Fedora Core 4 i386, kernel 2.6.14 Firefox-related info: version - 1.5.0.3 (latest at the time of writing) Theme - Noia eXtreme 2.996 Relevant Extensions - Adblock Plus 0.6.1.1
It definitely seems to be bound to the Adblock Plus extension. I've just tested it against a new empty firefox profile, and the hang doesn't happen. Installing the extension fires up the bug. I will report that to the extension developers.
