User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060516 SeaMonkey/1.5a
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060516 SeaMonkey/1.5a

When opening a Java based window Seamonkey crashes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.comdirect.de/
2. Click on "Informer"
3. Click on "Optionsscheine"
4. Select "Chart Analyzer" from the pop-up on the right side
5. Crash

Actual Results:
Seamonkey crashes

Expected Results:
Should open the Chart Analyzer

JavaEmbeddingPlugin 0.9.5+d is installed.
MacOS 10.4.6 with all updates installed.
When I follow your instructions, no crash happens, and no Java applets
get loaded.

Are some steps missing? I don't speak German, so your instructions
will need to be very precise.

Also, I gathered (though I couldn't really read any of the prompts)
that I need an account to use the Chart Analyzer. I don't (of course)
have an account, nor (not speaking any German) will I be able to get
one.

Hi Steven,

with built Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060521 SeaMonkey/1.5a it does not crash anymore but the Chart-Analyzer simply does not load. The window that opens when selecting Chart-Analyzer that says that Chart-Analyzer is loading cannot be moved nor closed or minimized. It's frozen.

BTW: You only need an account if you want to use it, but Seamonkey does not even get that far.

Whatever your problem is, it almost certainly doesn't involve Java (or
the Java Embedding Plugin). It's probably also not a bug in
SeaMonkey. On general principles, I suggest reinstalling Flash on
your computer (though I'm just guessing that Flash might be involved).

If you can, please attach a crashreporterd log for one of your
crashes. It should be somewhere in
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/seamonkey-bin.crash.log.

I tested again, this time with the latest SeaMonkey trunk nightly
(2006-05-30-10-trunk). Once again I saw no crash, and no Java applet
ever got loaded. (For comparison's sake, I also tested with Firefox
1.5.0.3 on Windows XP ... and got the same results.)

Here's why I conclude that Java is not involved: Your crash (and your
hang) happen as the Chart Analyzer window (the window from which the
Chart Analyzer will be run) gets opened. But in my tests this window
opens with no problems, before any Java applet gets loaded.

Hi Steven,

I have another test-case:
1. Go to www.europoker.net
2. Play Poker
3. Click "Sit Out"
4. Click "Leave" -> Crash

The crash report is attached.

Well, your crash (presumably from www.europoker.net) is in the JEP.

But Europoker also seems to require an account to get to the Java
applet. Or do you know of a demo mode that uses the applet but
doesn't require logging on?

No, sorry. I am not aware of a demo-mode.
Since your crash log (attachment 224555 [details]) is basically identical to one
posted at bug 314011 (attachment 225068 [details]), I'm marking this as a
duplicate ... even though I can't (yet?) reproduce bug 314011.

Please try the bug 314011 URL and let us know your results.

(Because this bug doesn't have a publicly accessible URL, I chose not
to dup bug 314011 to this one.)
