Something is extremely broken. We can't figure out how to fix it, and we need the software and databases rolled back to pre-upgrade state as quickly as possible. We're already going to lose 12+ hours worth of changes, and I would like to minimize that as much as possible.
It would be nice to have the current broken state backed up before the rollback though, as some of the problems we see are not reproducible on the stage.

Yes, we must preserve the current state, to avoid losing user edits and the test environment.
Bugs 338394 and 338392 list examples of what is actually broken.

Some bugs we saw after the upgrade on live (but not on stage, that we can tell:) 338396, 338394, 338392 We also see 337987 on live, but not on stage. The TitleOverride.php file is the same on both sites.
A new database with a backup has been created and we rolled back to the old tag.
