1. compose a new mail. try to autocomplete email addresses from local addressbook. 

Addresses do not auto complete. 

this is a regression.
Priority: -- → P1
Can you narrow down the regression build to last worked build and first build this is busted in?
Changing serverity to Major.

Critical - crashes, loss of data, severe memory leak
Major - major loss of function
Severity: critical → major
I'm pretty sure I was using the build from the 18th or so, and that worked fine.  I've been trying to keep reasonably current, and I think this first hit me on Saturday morning. 

In any event, it's very recent at least on XP so I hope it's easy to find.

This bug was introduced for builds after 
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1a2) 
Gecko/20060518 Thunderbird/2.0a1 - Build ID: 2006051806
This looks to be a duplicate of bug 338725 which has just been fixed.

original bug 338725 is now resolved. I'm now able to do address autocompletion from today's build. verified.
