SilentDownload (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/silentdl/) is a very cool idea, but looking at the source it doesn't look like it ever happened.

If someone implemented it, it could be used for downloading any updates. It would also be very nice if you could set downloads in the download manager to download through SilentDownload.

This would be wonderful for FF 3.0 :)

Reproducible: Always
The Firefox updater already has the ability to automatically download the update files in the background.
So far as I can tell the only outstanding request here is to implement silent download, which is already filed.
