Details
(This bug imported from BugSplat, Netscape's internal bugsystem. It was known there as bug #123750 http://scopus.netscape.com/bugsplat/show_bug.cgi?id=123750 Imported into Bugzilla on 03/03/99 12:11) The HTTP-Index spec at http://people.netscape.com/roeber/file_format.html indicates that "File-types" can include SYMBOLIC-LINK, SYM-FILE, SYM-DIRECTORY but instead these seem to always be returned as FILE types.

In Aurora, I "ftp://rjc@xpnav/u/rjc/" (and that directory has a softlink inside of it)... so I'd assume that you could ftp to your home directory on xpnav as well (make sure it has a softlink). No idea who generates the index, I'd assume it would be code in the client.
RJC, if you are ok with this, then we should move these two bugs to post SF1-In?

Moving out of SF1 to 5.0 This need not be fixed for the stability freeze.

OS: All
Target Milestone: M6
Per DP's suggestion marking these till M8. Though Necko lands with M7, we will be able to verify it for M8.

Changing all Networking Library/Browser bugs to Networking-Core component for Browser. Occasionally, Bugzilla will burp and cause Verified bugs to reopen when I do this in a bulk change. If this happens, I will fix. ;-)

Robert is this still relevant (as in critically needed?) Or can it be deferred?

At some point, I need to use HTTP-Index for ftp in RDF... parsing HTML (as is currently done) is bad. Using HTTP-Index will make it much more resilient, as well as possible to get other attributes (such as dates). No huge rush, though.

we're now using http-index for dir (both file and ftp) listings. please file individual bugs on the various pieces (SYM-FILE for instance) that we wind up needing. Not sure what to mark this one.
