User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; de; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; de; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3

1. I am using a Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional PC to log in to a Windows Server 2003 domain.
2. After logging in, I launch Firefox. It starts and works as expected.
3. I then use Microsoft Terminal Services Client (installed e.g. in "C:\Program Files\Remote Desktop\mstsc.exe") to connect to the domain controller, USING THE SAME CREDENTIALS I used when logging on to the local machine.
4. After logging on to the domain controller, I then try to start Firefox on the domain controller, working inside the terminal services session.

This last step fails. I get an error stating that Firefox was already being executed and was not responding. The dialog window prompts me to kill the Firefox process or to restart my computer.

It would seem that somehow Firefox gets its knickers in a twist over the use of the very same (Windows) user profile (because I'm working with the very same user account).
I should add that we are using roaming (Windows) profiles at this Windows Server 2003 domain. I have not been able to test if this error also occurs on a Windows domain not using roaming user profiles. I have however run a second test, where I connected to two different Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Terminal Servers using the same credentials. This is on a seperate domain. I am not quite sure what the setup is, as I don't administer that domain. When launching Firefox in both terminal services sessions, I found that upon trying to launch the browser in the second session, I get prompted to choose a (Firefox) user profile (which doesn't happen unless another Firefox session has been launched beforehand).

In all of these cases, if I only launch one Firefox session per (Windows) user profile, Firefox runs ok.

Reproducible: Always

Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I have the same problem on Win2k3 with firefox 2.0.0.12.

In 'terminal services configuration' the 'restrict eacht user to one session' is set to 'No'.

Different user login's work fine.

But if one user opens 2 different terminal sessions en tries to open firefoxs on both an error shows.

Product: Firefox → Toolkit
you can't start more than one app with same mozilla (firefox) profile, and that's what happens by default when you multiple login in to windows server with same name. Roaming won't help unless your profile is in a different location.

see bug 348721 comment 1 for workaround
