I use Thunderbird to read mail via IMAP. 
Thunderbird is set to check all IMAP folders.
I often have two different PCs connected to my IMAP server, each configured to check all IMAP folders.
When a new message arrives in a folder, the folder name is made bold, and the folder icon changes to include the little "sparkle". 
The number of new messages is also displayed beside the folder name.
When I read the new mail on one client, those indictors are turned off, and the count is not displayed any more.

However, on the other client, the 'newmessage count' is not there (correct) but the folder name is still bold, and the "sparkle" is still there.

Those indicators should be reet when the new mesage count reaches zero.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use thunderbird from two different PCs to one IMAP server
2. When new mail arrives, read mail from one client
3. Check other client... "new mail" indicators are still present.

Actual Results:  
The folder name remained bold, and "sparkled" even though all messages in the folder hadbeen read (from a different client)

Expected Results:  
The "new message" indicators (bold/"sparkle") should be turned off when the "new message count" reaches zero, regardless of which client actually read the last message.

I've noticed this ever since using Thuderbird, but I'm currently using version 1.5.0.4

However, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=304974#c2 is a different issue I think.... relating to the "new message pop up"... 

I suppose I should update the other bug... but I think the popup is working"as designed"... I'm guessing it is counting "new messages"... those that are have been received with x minutes and not yet read. The count is NOT the number of messages received since "last time".
