For a demonstration of what I'm talking about, go to the US Post Office's International Rate Calculator site (URL above) and try to figure out what the cost is to send a 20 pound package to New Zealand. You'll have a considerable struggle trying to select "New Zealand" in the drop down list box because: 1) Scrolling within the list box is slow. 2) Selecting in the listbox is slow. 3) There are update problems. Try selecting a country that appears in the top of the drop down list. Now try dropping down the list again and selecting New Zealand. Half of the time, the first country that you selected BEFORE New Zealand appears in the widget, but submitting the form sends New Zealand to the server. 4) There are various other redraw issues. Sometimes the dropdown list doesn't get completely erased from the screen after the selection is made. This was from my latest cvs pull (around 11 pm).

Thanks. Moving to rods/HTML Form Controls -- (FYI jce2@po.cwru.edu .. the widgets used within HTML content are not implemented using XBL). (p.s., removed [DOGFOOD][ANNOYING] as [DOGFOOD] is not really used anymore, and [ANNOYING] isn't specific :-]. The perf keyword will probably do).

[ANNOYING] means when a bug or a lack of capability leads me (and most other users) to say "GOD DAMN IT!!! FUCK THIS, I'M USING NETSCAPE 4.X for this task!" In this case, I couldn't really use mozilla to find the price of shipping to New Zealand because I couldn't get the thing to select "NEW ZEALAND". These annoyance things are very important in getting people to use the browser...it's the small things that count.

We are aware of many, but not all of the problems with Comboboxes and of the scrollbar issue on Linux. blizzard@redhat.com is working on the scrollbar issue. From my understanding, at this time it is a GTK issue more than a mozilla. I realize at times it is frustrating using mozilla, but this beta software, we are trying hard to clear up the remaining usability problems. Thanks for letting us know of the issue. For far as selecting "New Zealand" you should have been able to give the combox focus and then repeatedly hit the letter "N" to get to New Zealand. If that doesn't work, then please augment bug #14771
