the window of a sent mail does not close always by itself.
You cannot activate the window anymore to close it manuelly.
You can only close the whole Thunderbird app. , then the remaining window of the sent email closes.
this behavoir was noticed first with the new installation of 1.5.0.4

See bug 338331 (which this is probably a dupe of), and bug 338943.

Is this a German language-pack version of Thunderbird, or are you running it with en-US like your Firefox installation?
Do you have any extensions installed?  If so, try running TB with extensions turned off (Safe Mode), and see if you can reproduce the problem.
Do you have any 3rd-party window managers running under Windows?  (If you don't know, you probably don't.)

I am running the english installation.  
In earlier versions, where I did not have this problem, 
I did not install extension of Mozilla Calendar. ?????????

different to #338331 and #338943 as I am running TB 1.5.0.4
else looks the same as #338331 
different to 338943 as it only happens sometimes

Please try running the current version without Calendar running and see if you can reproduce the problem.
