User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4

Since installing free version of Avira anti-virus and (at the same time) Mozilla ad blocker (from Firefox menu, so an approved, not-too-strong version), Firefox has become unpredicably unstable -- it worked almost flawlessly before that. Freeze announced by message with "!" in yellow triangle and text: "Program Error/ Firefox-exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. /An error log is being created." (Sorry but I don't know how to find this log.) This happens often -- though not invariably -- and usually after 5-10 minutes of opening the browser. Easy to reproduce. Wasn't affected by latest (.4) update. The freeze often triggered by sending of email, often with attachment, or by returning to Firefox from various other programs in other windows. Any unsent or unsaved[as in, to Drafts]text is lost.
One other problem: for scrolling up or down a page, the mouse drags the bar without problem but switching to arrow down or page down sends me right to the end of the page -- a hassle at /.! Clicking on the text before moving from mouse to keyboard does not help.
Apart from these troubles Firefox is great!

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.use browser for 5-10 minutes
2.(sometimes:) sending email
3.(moving back to Firefox from other open windows, sometimes with Firefox also running, sometimes other programs)

Actual Results:
Warning from Windows as described in details and if I fail to click "close" button Firefox will close itself in a minute or 30 seconds.

Expected Results:
not crashed

Wish I could help you by a deeper IT knowledge than I have.
You state in the report that it has been happening since you installed Avira antivirus.
Have you tried removing this and then see what happens?

Yes to your first sentence -- since installing Avira and also your Adblock "v.5 d3 * nightly 42", at the same time. Do you think Avira a more likely cause than Adblock? I should have stressed before, that browser shuts down ONLY WHEN USING EMAIL, in this case, Yahoo's. It's now an odd looking Yahoo mail sign-in page, with many of its standard graphics blocked out.

So: is it necessary to delete Avira first off? Could I first try running with Avira merely disabled? But I'll do as you suggest.

If I could find the error logs for the shutdowns, would these be useful to you?
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!
