I used to be able to install a extension by placing a xpi in the extension folder but suddenly it doesn't work again and it hasn't work for a couple of weeks now.
firefox keeps asking me to install the xpi when I restart. it doesn't seems to remove the already installed xpi file from the extension directory

in the console I see this:
A Item Package appeared at: C:\Private\Mozilla\Profiles\Mozilla Firefox\gemal\extensions\launchy.xpi that we know nothing about, assuming it was dropped in by the user and configuring for installation now. Location Key: app-profile
to reproduce:
1) download a xpi file for an extension you dont have installed
2) place the xpi file in the extension folder in your profile
3) restart and click install

Should Rob own this bug?
Does the same happen with FF2 alphas, or is this trunk-only?
