main Thunderbird window contains field for searching e-mails in folder. it also contains a cross mark to exit the search results and return back to the folder. after successfull search is performed, user clicks on the cross mark and is taken back to the folder. however, the message selected in the search window is not selected in the mailbox. this makes searching the context very hard in folders with big number of messages.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. search for particular message in big folder
2. get back to the folder by clicking on the cross mark
Actual Results:  
no message is displayed when back in the folder

Expected Results:  
the message which was selected in the search window should be displayed

This works for me if I select the message before clearing the quicksearch 
field.

You seem to be thinking that quicksearch will find a single message, but it usually finds more than one.  If you don't select a message and there are multiple results from a search, what would you expect to happen?

I note that if you select multiple messages in the search results and then clear the QS field, only one message remains selected.

That at least seems like a bug.

Good Mornign, This is a bug at my opinion.
I hope that in the future it will be possible to find the message found in a second time, event spending many cpu time (let us the choice)
