Some sites choose to auto-detect the reporter's HW and OS platforms and use
that data to fill in the corresponding fields in a new bug report.

For some users this is good, for others it is bad.

I'd like to see a per-user preference field that would override the system default for this behavior.

I want this as I tend to do a lot of bugzilla work from my laptop, which is a different HW/OS plaform than the systems on which I am finding the bugs.

I think that's a good idea. Maybe we could even move the defaultopsys and defaultplatform parameters to being user preferences.

We'd have to subclass Bugzilla::User::Setting, like we did for skins.

I'm not sure a user pref is a good idea. There is more and more discussion about hiding these fields by default, which means they are less and less useful. And we don't need a user pref for "most of the time" useless fields.

Mmmm, not WONTFIX, but a low priority. I probably wouldn't accept it right now, but if we move the auto-selecting code into an extension, then I could be more interested in this sort of thing.
