Details

Thunderbird refuses to get new messages from any feed; upon clicking the button, nothing happens. When adding a new feed, the progress meter stops part-way through "Verifying the RSS feed" and nothing further happens. The only workaround I can find is to make a new News & Blogs account (or presumably a new profile). Seen in Thunderbird 1.5.0.2 en-GB and 1.8-branch (2.0 alpha) en-US nightlies from May-ish 2006, on Windows XP (on a low-end, memory-starved, slow-witted computer). I have no steps to reproduce other than general usage. I suspect a crash (TB20051437E) is responsible or related.
Do you have Lightning installed? (In reply to comment #0) > Thunderbird refuses to get new messages from any feed; upon clicking the > button, nothing happens. If you have Lightning then you might have this problem https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342051 (In reply to comment #0) > Thunderbird refuses to get new messages from any feed; upon clicking the > button, nothing happens. I did have Lightning installed very briefly, but that was a long time before this last occurrence, and I can't find any artefacts in either the program folder or my profile folder. Trying to get messages doesn't leave anything in the error console, but trying to subscribe to a new feed produces: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x804b000a [nsIURI.spec]" nsresult: "0x804b000a (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger-newsblog/content/Feed.js :: anonymous :: line 109" data: no]
Comparing the bug description and the Javascript Console error messages, this bug would appear to be a duplicate of Bug 322793. Reporter (Greg): Please check Bug 322793 and mark this bug as a duplicate of Bug 322793 if you agree that it is the same.
The symptoms aren't identical, but it's close enough. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 322793 ***
