I encrypt all my mail by default. Sometimes I don't have the certificate for one or more of the recipients. When that happens, I first see a dialog that shows that I'm trying to find the recipients in an LDAP server. Then I see two more dialogs show up. Dismissing the top dialog dismisses the lower one. This UI implementation is a little startling in that three dialogs pop up when one should suffice. I propose that we find a smoother way to represent the process that's going on under the covers. For example, perhaps we could have a single dialog that shows each of the steps in the send process, advancing along until the client hits a roadblock. I also suspect that we can check to see if we have all the required certs earlier in the process to avoid one of the dialogs.
Here are the two connected dialogs that show up when I try to encrypt mail, but don't have certificates for all the intended recipients. Dismissing one will dismiss the other.
Bob is this still and issue for you if you use a recent 3.0 build of Thunderbird ?
