User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; hu; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; hu; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 My computer got a reset suddenly. After that the prefs.js deleted and got the default values. Some months ago it was harder: prefs.js had filled with some binary trash, I had to delete it to get preferences saved. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start FF, do something 2. Reset computer 3. Start FF, watch Expected Results: At least FF should keep some backup from prefs.js like from bookmaks.html. Then after crash it would be easier to restore the vaild settings. It would be nice, if FF would show a warning message after crash, and suggest a restore operation. The problem affect plugins as well: for example adblock lost settings (fortunately makes backups), sage, bumble search...
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
Firefox 2.0.0.1 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 also affected
Version: 1.5.0.x Branch → 2.0 Branch
I got it too, and it really is irritating me. Few days ago all preferences, input data, cookies were gone. Now only my preferences are set to default. Can't firefox just remember the preferences?

I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here.
