I'm seeing msgWindow.mailCharacterSet as "" from an onload handler in the 3-pane mailnews window. In sm trunk, sm 1.0.2 - not tbird 1.5.0.4 though.

Yeah, once about an msgWindow I was creating, then again about the one that's defined globally.
