Details

- Put this code in userChrome.css:
/* Hide the search button */
.search-go-button-container {
  display: none !important;
}
/* Without the search button, the search engine image needs a margin */
.searchbar-engine-image {
  margin: 2px !important;
}
- Run Firefox and press alt + arrow down
- Result: nothing happens

Code once found somewhere in a Mozillazine forum topic for desperate search button haters.
Setting "display:none" makes the button and it's child dropdown non-existent, so the shortcut obviously won't work. "visibility: hidden" works, though the space taken up by the image is still there.

Either way, this is invalid. If you're hacking your copy of Firefox, and things don't work, that's your own fault :).
